1880-1910 Beautiful Antique Goose in the Pond Vintage Quilt – Hand Quilted! A

Description 1880-1910 BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE GOOSE IN THE POND VINTAGE QUILT – HAND QUILTED! A   This is a stunning hand pieced & hand quilted 1880-1910 Cinnamon/Double Pink GOOSE IN THE POND or YOUNG MANS FANCY Quilt in as good condition as when she was completed 100 years ago! I purchased this unwashed, unused quilt during 2000 from Cincinnati-Ohio:USA……it measures 71″ x 80”. The overall colour scheme is red, white & pale beige blocks set among a typical cinnamon pink setting fabric. The pale beige would likely have have been a fugitive dark green teal colour that has faded over time. There are 30 blocks set on point arranged in 5 rows of 6 x blocks. The Goose in the Pond blocks each measure 9.25” x 9.25” and OMG those 120 x tiny miniscule nine patches: be still my beating heart bless them! Each nine patch block measure a mere 1.75” square with the individual squares just a smidge over half of an inch!!!!! A whisper thin layer of cotton wadding has been used for the batting with a cream calico backing fabric…….the quilt has then has been hand quilted together with tiny little neat stitches at an average of 8 stitches to the inch!  This is a paper thin quilt: the shadows you can see in a few places on the back are from the fabrics showing through from the front. This gorgeous quilt is in excellent unused condition: you could literally place this on your bed tomorrow & with gentle use it should last another 100 years….this beauty would suit new quilt buyers! I scoured over this quilt to search for any condition issues….all I noted was a very small tear in the binding, one small seam that needs restitching & a section of light surface soiling which looks to be dust transfer from being on a shelf. The fabrics themselves are perfect and quilting stitches strong…….there’s absolutely no odours to this quilt: it’s as bright, crisp & snowy clean as the day it was finished!
