Our Vet had prescribed Bute powder for my mare. He also suggested Voltaren as a possibility. Our horse got to where she wouldn’t take the Bute at all. No matter how I tried to trick her with apples, grain & applesauce. Nope she couldn’t be fooled. I also tried Voltaren. It didn’t work at all. Perhaps, if I would have shaved her, it may have worked better? Anyway, I had first tried a similar product to FlexMax off another Equine internet site. It worked! She barely limped! The price, though for 5 lbs, was very spendy. I found FlexMax at 10 lbs with somewhat different ingredients, but close enough. And, the price was close to the same price as the 5 lb bucket from the other seller. It’s clear that my aged mare is doing so much better with FlexMax. She has never turned it down, either. She likes the taste! I highly recommend FlexMax. She continues to limp a little, but is so much better than what the Bute or Voltaren was for her.
